Call him overrated but there’s no denying that Charizard is one of the staples of the Pokemon franchise. So of course, when you see Leon pull out a Gigantamax Charizard in Pokemon Sword and Shield, you’re going to want it. Fortunately, there are easy ways to obtain the same.

As noted by IGN, simply beat the game and head to Hop’s house. Go upstairs to find a Pokeball containing a Charmander that was left by Leon. It’s a special Charmander with some strong stats so level it up, evolve it to Charmeleon and then Charizard. You should then see an icon next to Charizard’s name indicating that it can be Gigantamaxed.

The other way to obtain a Gigantamax Charizard is through a Max Raid battle in the Wild Area. It’s a Rare drop though so look for the purple beam of light and prepare to fight. If you want to pick up a Gigantamax Eevee and farm Shiny Pokemon as well, check out our guide here.
