Pokemon X and Y Sell Over Four Million Units Worldwide

Game Freak's latest is a massive hit.

Though it released on October 12th and hasn’t even completed a week at retail, Game Freak’s Pokémon X & Y have sold over 4 million units for the Nintendo 3DS worldwide in Japan, Europe and North America according to Nintendo. This marks the first global launch in the franchise’s history, and according to past data, it has been revealed that Pokemon X & Y have become the fastest selling 3DS games of all time, tracking ahead of Black & White 2 by more than 70 percent.

To compare, Pokémon Black and White have sold 15.42 million units over their lifetime, with Pokémon Diamond and Pearl selling 17.63 million units. Pokemon X & Y mark the first time in the series’ history that the game has gone fully 3D-rendered with new Mega Evolutions and grooming mechanics tossed into the mix among other things.
