The Pokemon Company has released new footage today for Game Freak’s upcoming Pokemon X & Y, which will be releasing for the Nintendo 3DS this October. The trailer shows off the new mechanics for fishing in the game, and also shows off how surfing will look like this time around.

Pokemon X & Y is looking to be the developer’s biggest update to the series yet. Aside from new Pokemon and a brand new region in Kalos – and the fully 3D look for the game – the game will feature new mechanics for battling, a new Pokemon type, new evolutions, new items, a new way to feed and pet Pokemon using the touchscreen and much more.

Hopefully that will be enough to battle claims of monotony that the franchise has been suffering. Along with Pokemon X & Y, Game Freak also has another title in development which is both a collaboration and based off a classic game.
