The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo have a heaping helping of new details for the upcoming Pokemon X/Y, due to release on October 12th for the Nintendo 3DS.

First up, we have the new playing companions, which include Shauna, an energetic girl; Tierno, an aspiring dancer looking to form a Pokemon troupe; Trevor, who for all purposes looks and is a nerd; Serena (if you choose the male lead) or Calem (if you choose a female lead), who essentially is your childhood friend.

There’s also the passion to be a Pokemon Trainer, so you just KNOW they’re going to challenge you down the line. We also know that the first Gym Leader will be Violan in Santalune City, whose gym is wrapped in spider webs which players need to find a safe route through.

Some of the new Pokemon showcased include the Fire and Normal type Litleo, who possesses the new Normal move Noble Roar for lowering an enemy’s attack; Flabebe, a Fairy Type which can use Fairy Wind for a powerful gust attack; and Scatterbug, a Bug type which evolves into Spewpa and then Vivillon.
