Project Giant Robot Cancelled by Nintendo

It was a while coming.

Remember Project Giant Robot, the other pet project that Shigeru Miyamoto was working on while hyping Star Fox Zero? After not hearing about it for some time, the project has recently been cancelled.

Nintendo was contacted by Polygon following the game being absent from the company’s recent earnings report. It replied that Project Giant Robot had been cancelled and that “We made this decision after considering our overall product and development strategy.”

Given that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be the last Nintendo developed title for the Wii U, it was obvious that Giant Robot wouldn’t be around in the near future. However, this also means that it won’t be heading to the Nintendo Switch anytime soon either.

Project Giant Robot appeared as a fairly simple game, allowing players to battle other robots as a giant robot. It was meant to be controlled by the Wii U GamePad. What are your thoughts on its cancellation? Let us know in the comments.
