PS4 Firmware Update 1.75 Out Now, Adds 3D Blu Ray Support

What? A firmware update for PS4? Is this real life?

Sony has been roundly (and rightly) criticized for being very slow on the uptake when it comes to updating the firmware for the PlayStation 4. Microsoft and Nintendo have been very proactive with adding new, missing, and demanded features, but Sony has been suspiciously quiet on this front. Thankfully, however, they have just released a new firmware update for the PS4, one that does add one promised feature.

Firmware update 1.75 won’t change much of how you play games- it’s actually fairly minor, really- but it still does add at least one feature that was promised before the launch of the PS4, and one that people have been clamoring for: Blu Ray 3D playback.

The other features are much more minor- your PS4 can automatically download ‘Featured Content’ while in standby mode, and for some reason, Sony decided to move the PS4 notifications from the top right corner of the screen to the top left. Yeah, beats me.

Still, it’s a start, so good going Sony. Now just keep at it, and remember, above all, be transparent with your fanbase.
