PS4 Online Is Free For The Next Five Days

Ah, a throwback to the good old days...

Posted By | On 13th, Nov. 2017

For the next five days, you can play online multiplayer on your PS4 without needing an active PlayStation Plus subscription. Sony has confirmed that online play, which is usually locked behind an active PS Plus subscription (which comes with ever rising monthly or annual subscription fees), will be free from November 15 through to November 20. Good times!

Indeed, it’s a great reminder that online play on PlayStation used to be free until the PS4- on the PSP, PS3, and PS Vita, PS Plus was a value added service, offering cloud saves, automatic synching of profiles, automatic updates, and an enviable collection of ‘free’ games every month. The move to a paywall gated online model occurred only with the PS4- a move that, curiously enough, coincided with the quality of PS Plus’ other services falling.

Ah, but that’s a discussion for another time. For now, you get PS4 online play, for free. Want to play Destiny, Call of Duty, or Battlefront? Go nuts! You can do it now- enjoy.
