PS4: The One Feature That Nobody Seems To Be Talking About

Something that improves the end user experience by some margin.

Sony seems to be taking the initial lead over Microsoft’s next generation console by doing the right things. They have shown us the games they have been working on and the technology they will be using to power them up on the PlayStation 4.

From the much touted 8GB GDDR5 RAM to the use of Gaikai to stream games, the hype train seems to be running parallel with Sony. But much to anyone’s surprise, one of the best features about the PS4 is not being talked about.

If you have PlayStation 3 and if you have ever connected it online, you must have observed that sometimes in order to download a massive game or apply a patch, the update/download screen sticks on your screen.

“You cannot perform background download of this content.”  On countless occasions this results in to frustration especially if the content is massive in size.

When Sony official revealed the PlayStation 4 back in February this year, Mark Cerny, the technical mastermind behind the console’s design revealed that they will be including a custom chip that will be handling all the updates and video decodes in the background. Now this results in to a number of different possibilities.

You can probably keep playing the game without any stoppage time, listen to music, upload your videos using the share button and most importantly, this will save your time and probably some stress.

It’s amazing that no one is talking about this since this is something that will definitely improve the end user experience.
