Sony announced earlier this month that it will, at long last, allow PSN users to change their username, which was excellent news for those of us who have been stuck with usernames for the better part of the last decade that we may not necessarily have wanted to have now. They also confirmed that they will be rolling out the feature in beta phase first, making it fully available next year.
Well, that beta rollout has started, as ResetEra users in the UK are reporting receiving an invitational email for the beta for PS4 firmware update 6.1, which apparently adds the name change functionality. That means that those lucky few of you who get these will get to change your IDs first! Don’t go hogging all the good usernames, you hear?
So far, it seems like only UK users have received these invitational emails, but I imagine over the coming week, we should see people in the rest of the world receive them too.
