PS4 Update: Sony Needs To Sell 286,000 Consoles To Cover Their Marketing Budget

Not accurate.

Sony’s marketing budget for the PS4 is $100 million apparently. Of course it sounds too low, but they, what’s what we have now. So to make that back, what do they need to do? Well sell 1.7 million PS4 games and 286,000 consoles.

That’s not actually how the market works though, but dissecting it this way is humorous. Psmania put up a nifty image of the entire thing and even though it’s not really accurate it gives a general idea of what Sony needs to do to make back their investment.

The marketing budget for the PS4 should be way more than $100 million because it’s their major brand, but considering the PS3 slim supposedly cost $126 million, PS4’s budget should at least $300 million.

Microsoft had spent $500 million on Kinect, so you can probably imagine what their Xbox 720 marketing budget may be like.
