Sony has confirmed that its PS5 showcase event, titled “PS5: The Future of Gaming”, will take place on June 11th. It will broadcast at 1 PM PDT, as revealed in today’s leaked ad, and showcase upcoming PS5 titles. Interestingly, Sony has offered a few more details in its announcement on the PlayStation Blog.

It noted that the broadcast would be in 1080p resolution and 30 frames per second. “This eased the show’s production process during a time when many of our team and developers are working from home.” It noted that the game showcased would “look even better” when played on a 4K TV. Which seems a given but this could be a way to explain some games not looking at sharp as they inevitably will on the PS5.

However, it was also suggested to wear headphones since “there’s some cool audio work in the show, and it might be harder to appreciate if it’s pumped through your phone or laptop speakers.” This could be part of the “diverse and sophisticated 3D audio experiences” that Sony president and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida spoke of at the company’s last corporate strategy meeting. Either way, be prepared for some big names to appear especially with rumors of a Bloodborne remaster and Demon’s Souls remake running rampant.

The PS5 is currently slated to release this holiday season.
