PS5 Was Sony’s Biggest Console Launch Ever

More stock is apparently also coming before the year's end.

It’s been quite a year for a variety of (terrible) reasons, but at the very least both Sony and Microsoft managed to grace us with brand new toys in three new generation consoles despite being in a global pandemic. It may not be much relief, especially depending on what your financial situation is, but it’s something nice in a rather crap year. On the Sony front, it also was a big success.

On the official PlayStation Twitter, it was announced that the PS5 was Sony’s biggest console launch ever. There’s no numbers given here, something that Sony seems to be moving away from giving for whatever reason, but considering the successful launch of consoles in the past, it’s fair to say it’s probably a big number. It’s not too surprising, since PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan has said everything about the PS5 has been sold out for a good while, but an achievement all the same.

The PlayStation 5 is now available worldwide. While stock is nonexistent at the moment, the tweet also mentions that more stock will be coming before the year is over, so keep a keen eye on that.
