The leaks didn’t lead to any change of plans.

RAGE 2‘s official reveal has been somewhat fascinating to observe. The game was randomly leaked by a Walmart Canada listing last week, leading to Bethesda’s social media accounts to start playing along with the leak, strongly hinting at a reveal coming soon. Then, a teaser trailer was dropped today, promising more gameplay for tomorrow.
Was any part of this process influenced by the unfortunate timing of the leak last week? Would, for example, a proper announcement have been withheld till E3 if Walmart hadn’t leaked the game? As it turns out, no. The game was always planned for a reveal today with gameplay shown off tomorrow, but once the leak happened, the social media teams at Bethesda decided to have some fun with it.
I have to say, Bethesda’s social media game is on fire- anyone remember how cool they were with the Wolfenstein 2 marketing last year? Hopefully, they have some cool game announcements (such as Starfield!) to play with come E3.
Plan was originally to start teasing on Friday, teaser trailer today, gameplay tomorrow. We just improvised and adapted because my team is awesome and we thought it'd be fun (it was). https://t.co/JXoMKwXpKQ
