#3. 2020

the last of us part 2

Just as 2013 saw the seventh console generation closing things out with a stupendous bang, so, too, has 2020 been defined by a laundry list of amazing, unforgettable games releasing in the final months of the PS4 and Xbox One. In games such as The Last of Us Part 2, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Persona 5 Royal, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Hades, we’ve been lucky enough to play titles that are at the very top of their respective genres, and are delivering experiences that we’re unlikely to forget anytime soon.

Then there are others such as Ghost of Tsushima, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Dreams, Nioh 2, Wasteland 3, and so many others that, too, have wowed audiences in more ways than one. Consider the fact that by the time 2020 ends, the PS4 and Xbox One will also have games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and many more in their library, and this truly does come across as a worthy year to close out this current console generation.
