Insomniac Games’ Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is an extremely beautiful game, and easily one of the best games to utilize the PS5 feature set to the fullest extent. On the day of its release date, we analyzed the game in all of its different modes, with great results so far. Have a look below for a detailed comparison video.
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart has three distinct graphical options. The first is a fidelity mode targeting a native 4K resolution with ray-tracing enabled. From our testing, the game seems to have no issues holding its 30 fps target all the while looking like a real-time Pixar movie. The Performance mode knocks down a few settings including ray-tracing, in an effort to hold a steady 60 fps at the same 4K resolution.
Lastly, the Performance RT mode switches to a dynamic resolution but keeps ray-tracing enabled for a 60 fps experience. All three modes seem to hold to their render targets pretty well, and choosing the best option boils down to purely preferences which is an impressive feat in enough itself.
