Ubisoft recently confirmed that its Montpellier and Milan studios are working on the “future of Rayman,” following up on news of “exploring” the brand last year. While brand producer Loic Gounon said not to “expect news from us too soon,” the rumored remake of Rayman is seemingly progressing quite well.
This is according to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, who first reported on the same last year. Codenamed “Steambot,” the current target for release is allegedly late 2026, and those familiar with development have reportedly stated that it’s going “incredibly well.”
Ubisoft is not stopping there, as preliminary plans for Rayman 4, the first numbered entry in the franchise since Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. The success of Steambot will apparently determine whether it actually happens, according to sources, but if so, it would seemingly launch by 2030.
It’s worth noting that job listings for a triple-A Rayman game appeared last May, including for a 3D gameplay animator. If rumors of the remake are true, it could be a fully 3D platformer rather than a side-scroller like the first game or Rayman Legends. As always, stay tuned for more details and updates.
