Red Dead Redemption 2 – Rockstar Currently Working On Missing Camp Characters Bug

Expect a title update to be rolled out soon.

Red Dead Redemption 2

No open world game is without bugs. Not even one as polished as Red Dead Redemption 2. One bug in the recently released open world wild west epic that was discovered by fans sees some major characters going missing from the gang’s camp after a particular mission in Chapter 2.

More specifically, if you fail during the mission ‘Polite Society, Valentine Style’ at the start of Chapter 2 and have to restart from the previous checkpoint, this bug gets activated. Though the characters in question appear in the camp when there are missions attached specifically to them, at all other times, they’re nowhere to be found.

Rockstar recently posted an update on its site where it explained and acknowledged this bug. “We are aware of the issue and are currently working on a fix to be included in an upcoming Title Update,” they wrote. The update also goes on to explain some workarounds for this bug until such time the patch is released. If you fail in the aforementioned mission in chapter 2, don’t restart from the previous checkpoint- instead, abandon the mission and restart it from the beginning, or reload a save from before the mission began.

If you already have this bug, don’t worry- Rockstar also explains that the missing characters can all be found back in camp once you begin chapter 4 of the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One. A PC version might be on the way as well.
