As you would expect for a series that is almost 25 years old, Resident Evil has gone through some rather bold changes in its history. From camera perspective and general tone changes, I can’t think of another franchise that’s gone through so many successful reinventions. One such example is that in older games, you could actually play through the game with a knife only. This is something that became impossible, especially as the series became more action-focused. But it seems the upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake is bringing it back- but don’t expect it to be easy.

Talking to Game Informer, Producer Peter Fabiano confirmed that those in the office tested it out, and yes, you can do a knife-only run in Resident Evil 3. Since the knife is once again an infinite resource, as those who played the now available demo discovered, it makes it a possibility. He warned that it wasn’t an easy task, however, but veterans of these types of runs never expect ease. So for those nostalgic for a good knife-only run, you’ve got it next month.

Resident Evil 3 will launch on April 3rd. If you’re curious about potential spoilers and features from datamining the current demo, you can read all about them through here.
