Resident Evil 7’s demo has set a record: It’s now the fasted-download demo on the Playstation Network. The demo was outed on the PlayStation Network last month, on June 13th. Despite only being available to subscribers of PS Plus, the Resident Evil 7 demo has clocked in over 2 million downloads in just three weeks.
Capcom pointed out that the demo isn’t a part of the final game. Some rather supernatural aspects in the game had a lot of folks scratching their heads on account of Resident Evil’s pedigree. Sure the series has had its share of cultists and disturbing Cronenburg-esque horror set-pieces, but it’s always remained grounded in, well, at least science-fiction. It’s why it’s called Biohazard. Get it? Along with the move to a first-person view, Capcom interestingly hasn’t thrown the baby in with the dishwater–Resident Evil 7, apparently, will not be featuring supernatural elements.
