Resident Evil 7 was a total game changer for Capcom’s long running series, reimagining the franchise from the ground up all over again with its first person perspective. In the wake of the game’s critical and commercial success, Capcom has released a brand new video showcasing the making of Resident Evil 7, and how the game came about.

The most interesting thing we learn is that Capcom was working on an earlier version of Resident Evil 7, that was going to be more similar to Resident Evil 6. Ultimately, the game we got was inspired by the horror movie, Evil Dead. The video has a lot more interesting facts- do make sure to watch it for yourself below.

I am glad that this is the Resident Evil 7 we got- as Resident Evil 6 showed, the old franchise format was losing its ability to be compelling. Resident Evil 7 is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
