Capcom is sticking to what made the original work, though you can expect something "very much in line" with Resident Evil 2 Remake.

Resident Evil Veronica made quite the splash at the latest Summer Game Fest, giving us a look at the long-awaited remake that definitely had us wanting more. Typical, if expected, from Capcom. But an interview after the reveal with Polygon has shed some light on how the developers at Capcom have approached it, and that includes sticking to the third-person perspective.

This comes from none other than the game’s producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, who explained that the remake would feel “very much in line with the game feel of Resident Evil 2 remake.” So if you thought the reveal trailer’s first-person perspective was suggesting otherwise, think again.

Of course, we’re not writing off the possibility of a few first-person sequences in a similar vein to Resident Evil 3 remake, where Jill’s opening section had her looking around her apartment in the first-person view before Nemesis began hunting her. But you shouldn’t expect the ability to switch between first and third person throughout the game like Resident Evil Requiem.

Either way, we’re stoked about this one and can’t wait for a release date that we suspect might be one of those unannounced titles that Capcom had mentioned earlier this month for this fiscal year. It’s currently slated for 2027 on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
