Unexplained Plot Elements
Unexplained plot elements aren’t really part of a new trend for the franchise but Resident Evil Village seems to play exceptionally fast and loose with the same, to the point of skirting logic entirely. How was Rose ultimately reformed in the end? Why didn’t the Four Lords straight up kill Ethan whenever they had the chance (like, say, Mother Miranda did in the end)? What is the deal with The Duke? If Ethan is a Molded who can resurrect from having his heart ripped out of his chest, why does he need healing items? What happened to the horses in the opening section?
How did Mia even get captured? If Chris knew that Miranda was impersonating Mia and knew just how dangerous she was, why would he just shoot her a few times and then call it a day? Why doesn’t Chris ever really explain anything until much later? The mind boggles at some of the logic leaps and contrivances, even if the overall story is executed well.
