Earlier today we finally got a release date for the next game in Capcom’s iconic survival horror series with Resident Evil Village. The game will release across a variety of platforms. One of those is, of course, the PS5, and those on the system will get an exclusive chance to try it out ahead of time, with something of a twist.

A demo will be available for the game starting today. The twist here is that it will not be a chunk of the main game, and will instead focus on a character called the Maiden as she navigates through the castle that’s been part of the footage we’ve seen for the horror title so far. It will have no combat and instead focuses on this character’s attempt at escape. It’s somewhat reminiscent of the original RE7 demo where you played a standalone section that was not directly connected to the main game’s plot.

While the “Maiden” demo will only be available for PS5, there will be a separate demo that will release across all other platforms (PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC) later in the year. By the wording here, it seems that will demo will be more traditional, while Maiden will serve more to show off the game’s impressive look.
