Return to Silent Hill

In case you were wondering what happened to Return to Silent Hill, the cinematic adaptation of Konami’s Silent Hill 2, it’s still on track to release in theaters this January. In fact, a new trailer is available, and if there were any doubts, this is, for all intents and purposes, based on the acclaimed sequel.

From protagonist James Sunderland and Maria to the Bobblehead Nurses and Pyramid Head, it’s all here. Even iconic scenes like James looking at himself in the mirror at the start and gazing upon the infamous TV have been retained. Will it be enough to elevate the film beyond the original, especially with Christophe Gans returning to direct? Time will tell.

Return to Silent Hill arrives on January 23rd, 2026, in the United States. On the video game front, Screen Burn’s Silent Hill: Townfall is allegedly out in March 2026, though an official announcement is still pending. Konami is also teaming with Bloober Team once more for a remake of Silent Hill 1, which also lacks a release date.
