Saber Interactive, along with publisher Focus Entertainment, took to the Gamescom Opening Night Live stage to unveil a new title – Road Kings. The game was announced with a trailer showcasing its story, as well as its main premise of putting players in the driver’s seat of a 40-ton semi truck.

The core gameplay of Road Kings revolves around the fact that players will have to make deliveries with the truck in dangerous conditions, all while the game employs realistic physics and weather simulations. The title is slated to largely take place in the landscapes of the American South.

While the title might bear some similarities with games like American Truck Simulator, Road Kings will also seemingly feature a story that has the player rising through the ranks from a rookie driver all the way up to the owner and operator of his own trucking company. Along the way, players will also have to figure out challenges like managing routes, cargo, and client demands.

“We are thrilled to start on another exciting journey with our longtime partner Saber Interactive,” said Focus Entertainment Publishing managing director John Bert in a press release. “Road Kings is a project that truly combines Saber’s technical expertise with Focus Entertainment’s passion for immersive simulation experiences. Together, we’re aiming to deliver a deeper gameplay experience and a more dynamic adventure for players. We can’t wait for fans to get behind the wheel and discover everything this new title has to offer.”

“As a native Floridian, it is awesome to see parts of my home state recreated in Road Kings. I spent hundreds of hours on those roads as a kid and now we are bringing them to life in a game that creates a new category in the simulation space. I am so happy to be a part of this journey and personally loved playing the game.” said Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch.

Road Kings doesn’t yet have a release date. Saber Interactive has confirmed, however, that the title is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Saber Interactive also has another title that involves heavy machinery in the works: Docked.
