Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have released a new trailer for the upcoming sandbox game RoadCraft. The trailer, which you can check out below, emphasises the childhood experience of playing with toy vehicles based on construction vehicles.

Instead of gameplay, it focuses on the sense of nostalgia one might feel from having played with toys like a small bulldozer as a child. The trailer also shows off a larger bulldozer and several other massive construction equipment. Mimicking the act of picking up large piles of logs and dropping them, the kids also pick up a bundle of straws as part of their sandbox construction process.

Eventually, the camera zooms out to showcase that the children’s “construction project” in their sandbox mimics the larger construction equipment in their own massive project.

RoadCraft revolves around players using massive construction equipment to clear out areas ruined by natural disasters. Throughout a project, players will work towards supplying the affected area and helping rebuild it.

According to the studio, RoadCraft will feature “a new generation of simulation” thanks to the use of a new engine developed internally at Saber Interactive. Each object and vehicle is affected by the physics engine, with the game accounting for their mass and size. Things like wood, sand, and asphalt will also have different properties because of the physics engine.

As players progress through the game, they will also get to expand their range of vehicles through the garage. Each serves a different purpose, like using a bulldozer to clear out debris or a heavy transporter to transport heavy materials.

Progressing further into the game, players help supply factories and quarries to get a continuous supply of resources in bulk and set up larger operations as they help rebuild devastated areas.

RoadCraft is currently in development for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. With a release date of May 20, it will also feature support for co-op multiplayer for up to 4 players. Through multiplayer, players will be able to divide up tasks between themselves to get through objectives at a quicker pace.
