Rocket League has been a pioneer of cross platform play, first allowing PS4 and PC players to play against one another, and then PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch players (PS4 players are still, thanks to Sony’s archaic stance on cross platform play, stuck to playing with just PC players).
Now, it will be pioneering something else too- Psyonix has confirmed that the game will be getting cross platform party chat later in 2018. Now, this is hugely interesting because of the logistics- PS4 doesn’t communication with Xbox One or Switch and Switch doesn’t have native party chat- so what are we looking at here? Party chat for PS4-PC and Xbox One- PC players? Or will Psyonix somehow manage to bring Switch into the fold too?
Whatever they do, it’s still an admirable obstacle they will have surmounted. Rocket League is out now on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Hey there! We’re actively working on cross-platform party support for a 2018 release. 🙂
