Grand Theft Auto 5 has been something of a phenom to the gaming industry as its continued to top charts for two separate generations (and soon to be three) and has sold nearly 150 million copies. One of the reasons for that is the ever popular and ever changing Grand Theft Auto Online. Well, it seems that the PC version is getting a fix, one that originated from a fan and modder.

Modder t0st detailed his quest to figure how why the load times for Grand Theft Auto Online were so bad, which you can see through here. It’s a bit over my head on the technical side, but in the end, his fan-made fix ended up slashing the PC loading times by a whopping 70%. He released a proof concept download, but it didn’t take long for Rockstar themselves to notice and confirmed to PC Gamer that they would be using the method for an official fix down the line.

“After a thorough investigation, we can confirm that player t0st did, in fact, reveal an aspect of the game code related to load times for the PC version of GTA Online that could be improved. As a result of these investigations, we have made some changes that will be implemented in a forthcoming title update.”

t0st also updated his log in the link above to confirm that he received $10,000 through Rockstar’s H1 in-game bounty, which is usually reserved for rewarding out those who find security faults. Not a bad story all around.
