While the fury of the Warriors games will always have their audience (there is about 10,000 of them after all), the calm strategy of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms titles also has its fans, and with the fourteenth installment coming soon, it’s time to get ready to conquer ancient China all over again. We now have a demo to try out for the game, but you’ll need some Japanese skills to manage it.

The Playtest version was released today via Steam. It’s a lengthy demo of the upcoming title. According to Koei Tecmo, the demo will be used for feedback testing and will finish with a questionnaire for improvement. Unfortunately for western fans, the demo and questionnaire are only being released in Japanese. Considering how text heavy the games tend to be, you’ll probably have to have solid Japanese reading comprehension to play it.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms 14 will be available in Japan in January of 2020 with the western release said to be coming in “Early 2020.” It will release for both the PlayStation 4 and PC.
