With Microsoft confirming that their Xbox 360 console sold 261,000 units in March, the upcoming NPD results for the United States have supposedly leaked, giving us a look at the overall performance of other platforms.
To start off with, the PS3 apparently sold about 211,000 units – up by 36 percent over the previous month’s sales. Meanwhile, the Wii averaged 91,000 units sold – a whopping 47 percent higher than previous month’s sales – while the Wii U continues to struggle with 67,000 units sold.
Along with the Xbox 360, the 3DS had a good month, selling 230,000 units while the PS Vita managed only 33,000 units sold.
For the Xbox 360, this marks the 27th consecutive month that Microsoft has been on top. The PS3 is doing better than the Wii U and Wii combined but with the PS4 already announced, it will be interesting to see the response to the next gen console given how the current one is so entrenched.
We’ll update you on the actual March 2013 NPD results when they arrive.
