Yep, we’re at it again. The rumour mill refuses to die, and we’ve got more speculation concerning the release date of the 3DS and an as yet unannounced PSP 4000. And while we have no reason to suspect this particular snippet of information is any more legitimate than any of the others we’ve got so far, we just thought we’d pass it on to you anyway.
As Japanese news site Andriasang points out, a Japanese retailer, GEO, has apparently listed the 3DS as due for release later this year. Specifically, it’s been listed as ‘this calender year,’ and not ‘this fiscal year,’ which narrows it down to a release of on or before 31st December 2010, and not 31st March 2011, as Nintendo have been consistently maintaining.
Even more enigmatic is a listing for a PSP 4000, presumably the fifth hardware revision of Sony’s handheld, which is also listed for release later this year. A PSP 4000 hasn’t even been announced yet, so this is a bit puzzling. Although it’s true that that Sony could always announce it at TGS like they have done in the past for the PSP 3000.
We don’t have any official confirmation for any of this, but watch this space, because we’ll be updating it with fresh information soon.
