Microsoft have released brand new details for its upcoming launch title for the Xbox One: Ryse Son of Rome. Along with the tidbits they have also released a new trailer and some screens.

Crytek have revealed some brand new information regarding the combat system, custom challenges and everyone’s favorite: the Arenas.

In Custom Challenges and Arenas, players will be able to use the challenge editor to develop maps and events into custom playlists.  This will be accompanied by a leaderboard. The game will also feature 11 multiplayer maps along with one more if you have purchased the Day One Edition.

In addition, Courtyard and Stronghold are two new game modes. In Courtyard, players will have to face flaming pits, to deadly traps, to automated catapults. Stronghold will re-create the battle between the Romans and the Barbarians.

Ryse Son of Rome  will feature over 100 different types of Execution. Crytek describes them as ‘dropping an enemy on a conveniently-placed spike or kicking them off a wall.’

Ryse Son of Rome will include weapons such as the pilum (javelin), but scorpios (huge crossbows).
