Sam Raimi No Longer Directing World of Warcraft Film

Posted By | On 19th, Jul. 2012

Sam Raimi, the famous director behind the Spiderman films, Evil Dead and Drag Me to Hell, no longer seems to be involved with the World of Warcraft film. Based on Blizzard’s popular MMORPG, the film has been in development limbo for a while now.

At Comic-Con when asked how the film was proceeding, Raimi responded:

Actually, they don’t have me directing World of Warcraft anymore because when I took the Oz job, they had to move on to another director. They had to start making it.

This isn’t the first time the World of Warcraft film is without a director – nor will it be the last, with the way things are going. Raimi would’ve been a good fit, proving his competence and directing chops but Oz obviously presented more potential than a stalled project,

As it stands, however, it may be another long wait before a WoW film truly see the light of day.
