Samurai Shodown, SNK’s revival of the classic and beloved fighter franchise, earlier had a release window of Summer 2019, and at PAX East, that window got narrowed down even further. With a new trailer for the game, it was confirmed that it would be launching in June for the PS4 and the Xbox One, and that the Switch and PC versions would be following later on in the year.
Plenty of new gameplay footage has also been revealed, which also brings with it new details, courtesy of Gematsu testing over 40 minutes of the game’s PS4 Pro version. Samurai Shodown’s roster has a total of sixteen characters, out of which thirteen will be familiar faces from past instalments, with three being entirely new introductions. While the three new characters are yet to be revealed, the returning characters are- Charlotte, Earthquake, Galford, Genjuro, Hanzo, Haohmaru, Jubei, Kyoshiro, Nakoruru, Shiki, Tam Tam, Ukyo, and Yoshitora.
Samurai Shodown will feature Japanese voice overs, but will also include subtitle options for English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Pan-American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. You can check out the trailer and the video containing over 40 minutes of gameplay – which showcases quite a bit of the Story and Battle modes – below.
