Sea of Stars released last week on the back of plenty of hype and anticipation, and has been met with widespread praise from critics and audiences alike. That success is also being reflected in the game’s sales.
Taking to Twitter, Sea of Stars developer Sabotage Studio has announced that the retro RPG has sold over 250,000 units in its first week. Interestingly enough, that was how much the studio had projected the game would sell across its entire first year- so it’s safe to say it’s overperforming.
On the day of its release, Sea of Stars sold over 100,000 copies. The RPG is also available at no additional cost to subscribers of Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, which certainly makes its sales that much more impressive- especially considering the fact that it’s a smaller indie release coming out alongside heavyweights like Starfield and Baldur’s Gate 3.
Sea of Stars is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Sabotage Studio is currently also working on an expansion.
