Sabotage Studio’s Sea of Stars, a throwback to classic RPGs like Breath of Fire and Illusion of Gaia, is out now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch. It’s also playable on PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium and Game Pass. Check out the launch trailer below.

Set in the same universe as The Messenger, Sea of Stars is about Valere and Zale, the Children of Solstice, who utilize sun and moon magic. Their goal is to defeat The Fleshmancer, an evil alchemist, but they’ll have help with multiple party members joining the fray. You also have activities like cooking, fishing and the tabletop game Wheels to play.

Combat focuses on timing and combos, with no random encounters or grinding required. The visuals also pay homage to old-school RPGs with gorgeous 2D pixel art. Thus far, Sea of Stars is a hit with critics, scoring a 90 on OpenCritic from 72 reviews.
