Microsoft showed off Rare’s Sea of Thieves at their E3 presser today, showcasing a range of gameplay in the new game, including co-operative play, exploration, loot and treasure, treasure hunting and puzzles, and even some combat.

It looks great, as always- the artstyle is fantastic, and it seems to be a kind of game that would be fun to play with friends. It seems like cooperative play will be very heavily emphasized in this game, because trying to get through it by yourself seems to be almost impossible given how the game is designed. It looks and sounds like typical Rare- which means whimsical and fun. I really hope the final game lives up to how great the footage looks so far.

The one bit of bad news- the game launches in early 2018. Which is… well, what do they have for this year, then? Their games slate looks empty. Let’s hope they announce more games, quick.
