Rare has released a new trailer for the upcoming seventh season of Sea of Thieves, offering a deep dive into what players can expect from the new season. Check out the deep dive trailer, clocking in at almost 10 minutes, below.

A big feature in the seventh season for Sea of Thieves is giving players the ability to have their very own ship. This includes things like the ability to buy their own ship, as well as rename it.

Players can also own more than one ship; players can buy one ship of each size: a galleon, a brigantine, or a tiny sloop. The ability to buy a ship is right in the menus before getting into the game, with a prominent My Ships options.

Here’s the pricing for the three ships:

  • Sloop – 250,000
  • Brigantine – 375,000
  • Galleon – 500,000

Players can unlock the ability to buy multiple ships of the same size by getting a ship of that size to the Legendary status.

Buying a ship, and in the process becoming the captain of their own crew, players can also customise their captain’s cabins with different furniture and upholstery. The walls can also be decorated with paintings and ornaments.

A tiny level of details in the new customisation options is the fact that decorative trinkets in the captain’s cabin can get knocked out of place in the heat of battle, and players can go back to the cabin to put them back in place.

Owning a ship a ship now also means that its features become persistent. This means that minor details like small holes in the hull from old battles and pins in the map will carry through between game sessions. The persistent damage can be repaired at a shipwright.

The new customisation options will be available in the shops at outposts. However, to unlock these new features, players will have to earn Milestones—a new system that track players’ achievements throught their adventures in Sea of Thieves, whether they’re a captain or just a member of a crew.

There will also be a new Captain’s Log available in the captain’s cabin. The Captain’s Log contains details, such as the general play style of the ship and its crew, the ship’s name, and accolades chosen by the captain to highlight. The Captain’s Log can be lost, however. Other players can steal a Captain’s Log and sell it to the Reaper’s Bones.

Sea of Thieves Season 7 is set to launch on August 4, and will be available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S as a free update.
