Lara Croft has gone through quite the journey ever since Crystal Dynamics released Tomb Raider in 2013. To recap that journey, especially with Shadow of the Tomb Raider on the horizon, a new video with commentary from narrative director Jason Dozois at Eidos Montreal has been released. In Tomb Raider (2013), Lara dealt firsthand with the supernatural and slowly came around to her father’s work. Rise of the Tomb Raider saw her delving deeper into the man’s mysteries and running afoul of mysterious organization Trinity. Shadow of the Tomb Raider features Lara battling Trinity but tries to stop them by stealing an ancient relic. This unfortunately triggers the Mayan version of doomsday and it’s up to Lara to stop it.
While it would have been cool to see the evolution of Lara in relation to past Tomb Raider titles, seeing how far the erstwhile adventurer has come is pretty intriguing. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is out on September 14th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Eidos Montreal recently teased some kind of surprise at E3 2018 so stay tuned for more details.
