Whatever has been said about the overall involvement of Sony in Shenmue 3’s funding since the announcement and launch of its Kickstarter, one thing is for sure – Yu Suzuki has big plans for the franchise.
In a recent Reddit AMA, Suzuki stated that Shenmue 3 will only become bigger once it hits the $5 million mark and beyond in its Kickstarter. “I will say this: if we reach the $5 mil mark, one of the things I really want to do with Shenmue 3 will become a reality. At $10 million, it will truly have the features of an open world.”
Suzuki has already admitted that with a lot of detail has already been put into making the game’s world come alive. He also wants the franchise to last for the full 11 chapters that were originally planned when the second game released. That’ll be a lot of Shenmue down the line.
Shenmue 3’s current crowd-funding total sits at $3,571,736 with 24 days remaining and hints that an Xbox One version could also happen at some point. Stay tuned for more information on the Kickstarter’s progress as we go along.
