Yesterday, Polyphony Digital finally revealed the pricing on various micro-transactions that will be present in the upcoming Gran Turismo 6. Yes, the game features micro-transactions, thus allowing players to get ahead quickly in exchange for real money.

It hasn’t been without its critics though, and none other than Sony Worldwide Studios President for SCE Shuhei Yoshida has come out to defend the model on Twitter, asking players to be patient and wait for reviews of the same before jumping to conclusions.

There are plenty of free to play titles that use micro-transactions from Facebook titles to big-name games like Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time. And Yoshida is correct in that it depends on how you build the gameplay around it. There’s a difference between having it as an option and pushing it in players’ faces.

We’ll find out for ourselves when Gran Turismo 6 launches tomorrow exclusively for the PlayStation 3. Stay tuned for our official review in the coming days for the same.
