Opinion on Silent Hill 2’s upcoming remake has certainly turned around as we’ve approached its release, with the survival horror title continuing to look increasingly promising, and with its launch now a little over a month ago, Konami and Bloober Team are continuing to showcase more of the game. Recently, for instance, Japanese streamer 2BRO streamed over an hour of uncut gameplay footage, showcasing the game’s opening.

Fans of the original will obviously be very familiar with what’s shown here, with protagonist James Sutherland starting out in the foggy streets of the town of Silent Hill, meeting Angela, having his first encounter with a Straightjacket, exploring Wood Wide Apartments, and more.

The footage showcases plenty of exploration, melee combat, and some puzzle solving, among other things, while also offering glimpses of some of the tweaks, changes, and expansions players can expect in what’s otherwise looking like quite a faithful remake. Check out the gameplay below.

Silent Hill 2 launches on October 8 for PS5 and PC. Stay tuned for more details on the game in the coming days and weeks as we count the days down to its release.
