Silent Hill 2’s release date has finally been announced, and yes, it is indeed coming this year, as PlayStation had said earlier in the year it would. As leaks have claimed for a while, the long-awaited survival horror remake grabbed the spotlight with a new trailer at the recent State of Play presentation, and showed plenty for fans to chew on.

While the game’s combat trailer earlier this year felt like a strange way to represent what’s famously a a very non-combat-oriented game, this trailer much more accurately captures the tone and aesthetic that you’d expect to see from Silent Hill 2. In addition to familiar scenes recreated in impressive fashion, the trailer also showcases more glimpses of gameplay, including melee combat. Check it out below.

Silent Hill 2 will launch for PS5 and PC on October 8. Silent Hill Transmission event is coming up less than an hour from now, so stay tuned for more details on the remake imminently.
