Developer Full Circle is celebrating its progress on the development of Skate with a new video that features highlights from its most recent playtest from February. The video, which you can check out below, features quite a bit of gameplay, and even shows off some of the game’s multiplayer aspects.

Judging by the video, development on Skate has been coming alone quite well. Where previous highlight videos have featured plenty of unfinished textures and rough models, the latest one shows quite a bit of polish. The core gameplay also seems to be close to completion, with the variety of tricks pulled off by various players is quite vast.

Some of the tricks pulled off by players include various styles of grinds on rails, as well as different flips and even grab tricks.

The video also does a great job of highlighting the level of customisation players can expect from the game. Just about every player showcased in the video had different outfits and styles, giving each of them their own sense of personality. There also seems to be skateboard customisation, complete with colours and even graphics.

Skate doesn’t yet have a release date. However, the studio has in the past stated that it would be getting an Early Access release some time in 2025. While the PC version of Skate has been running playtests for quite some time, the studio also announced earlier this year that console players will be able to get in on the action as well.

The announcement of console playtests was made as part of a Q&A session. When the developers were asked about the status of playtests for the console versions of Skate, the developers responded by saying that it’s happening soon.

Currently, players can sign up for the playtests through the game’s official website. It is worth noting, however, that the studio is being quite selective about which players get to join the playtests, and not every player that signs up will be guaranteed to get selected. However, the developers have said that this selection process is an ongoing one, and it hopes to bring more players into the playtest.

Skate will be released as a free-to-play title with an emphasis on multiplayer and social aspects, as well as plenty of character customisation. Full Circle had revealed details on the game’s character customisation options last year thanks to a dev diary video.

Among other things, Skate players will be able to change their characters’ height, body shape, and other features. There will also be plenty of clothing options for players to more easily express themselves, ranging from tops and pants to eyewear and socks.

Tying in with real-world skateboarding culture, Skate will also feature real-world brands as part of the range of attire it offers players. When it comes to skateboards, players will be able to decorate them with graphics and stickers, and even change colours for various parts.

Skate got a trailer showcasing some pre-pre-alpha gameplay footage back in June 2024. The trailer featured a skit involving M-Corp, tying it in with older games in the franchise.
