Ubisoft Singapore’s long-in-development and underwhelming Skull and Bones will see the start of Season 2 later today. It features the Hubac Twins arriving to battle pirates, the player included, with Compagnie Royale forces. However, perhaps more notably, this week marks the start of a new free trial for the live-service title.

Starting on May 30th and ending on June 6th, the game is free for players on all platforms. It even supports progression transfer, so you can purchase the title and continue playing after the trial ends. If you’re keen on Season 2 and want to check out its content, this is a way to go about it. Pre-loading starts today at 9 AM PT.

Skull and Bones is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Despite years of delays and a reportedly massive budget, it’s rumored to have had less than one million players at launch (including those who engaged with the first free trial). Nevertheless, Ubisoft says it experienced their second-highest engagement in history.
