Skull and Bones finally launched earlier this month, and though it has done quite the opposite of setting the world on fire with its critical reception, for those who’re sailing the high seas in the online pirate game, Ubisoft has released its first free season of post-launch content.

Season 1’s chief addition is a new seasonal event that will center around legendary Pirate Lord Philippe La Peste and his Fleet of Pestilence, whom you’ll take on in increasingly difficult events that will culminate in a final confrontation at his base of operations, the Blighted Bastion.

Several other new World Events have also been added, including encounters against elite warships from megacorporations like the DMC and local factions like the Clan of Fara, as well as merchant convoys along trade routes in the Indian Ocean who’ll be carrying high-value loot. Additionally, players can now also find new bounties and set out on the hunt for ghost ships, sea monsters, and more.

Season 1 also brings new rewards for the leaderboard, additional unlocks for the paid battle pass, quality-of-life upgrades, and more. Check out its launch trailer below.

Ubisoft has also announced that Skull and Bones is seeing the second-highest engagement ever for a Ubisoft game, though recent reports have indicated that the title’s total player count has failed to meet expectations regardless.

Skull and Bones is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Read our review of the game through here.
