Sonic Team’s Former Head Is Making An Action Game For Square Enix

Gotta go fast.

Square Enix

As cliche as it ultimately is to say, you just never know where you’re going to end up in life. If many years ago you would have said one of the key members of Sonic Team would have joined Square Enix to create an action game, you’d probably get laughed out of the building. But here we are, and here Yuji Naka is, doing just that.

Via his official Twitter account, Naka confirmed that he was working on a new game for the company (he officially joined Square Enix in 2018). He only describes it as an action game, and one that he hopes to have worldwide appeal. Naka is 54 and has worked on a variety of titles over his long career, but is mostly known for his work as the Head of Sonic Team as well as the Lead Designer of the original Sonic the Hedgehog.

No platforms or time frames are mentioned, so when we may get any kind of information on whatever this game is will be anyone’s guess. But one thing is for sure, age isn’t stopping Naka any.
