Sega and Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog movie series is set to continue later this year with its third instalment, and we’ve now got our first look at what it will bring to the table, courtesy of the first official trailer for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
The titular speedster returns, of course, and is accompanied by all of his familiar allies, including Tails and Knuckles. This time, however, he faces a larger threat than ever in the form of the Ultimate Lifeform- Shadow the Hedgehog, an experiment gone wrong who’s now ready to kick some serious butt. As suggested by prior leaks, Shadow is indeed being voiced by Keanu Reeves.
To counter Shadow’s threat, Sonic and co will bring the villainous Dr. Robotnik (played by Jim Carrie again) out of retirement, hoping to form an uneasy alliance with him- and it looks like things are going to get suitably chaotic as a result. Check out the trailer below.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will release in theaters worldwide on December 20.
