Sony and Nintendo Lead Gaming Industry in Ad Impressions; Microsoft Not in Top 5

Neither are EA, Activision, or Ubisoft.

Much as with the state of the market right now, it seems like Sony and Nintendo lead the gaming industry in terms of ad impressions, according to a study between GamesBeat and iSpot.tv, the real-time TV ad measurement company that gathers data from over 8 million Smart TVs to analyze ad impressions.

PlayStation was, as expected, at the top, with 620.2 million ad impressions—which accounts for almost a third of the total ad impressions recorded! Nintendo was in second place, with 499.3 million impressions, with a lot of the company’s impressions coming from, expectedly enough, ads run on networks targeting younger audiences.

The next three companies are all mobile game companies—King, with 452.7 million impressions (all for Candy Crush), InnoGames, with 132.3 million impressions, and uCool, with 58.6 million impressions. Xbox, EA, Activision, Ubisoft, were all shockingly not in the top 5 at all.

Of course, these results are for the month of February—March saw the release of a major Xbox release with Sea of Thieves, and a major Ubisoft release with Far Cry 4–maybe things will be different in next month’s report?
