A New Vita Model

Possibly in conjunction with, or as a replacement for a price drop, Sony could announce a new Vita 4G or Vita Slim model. It would certainly be one way to renew interest in the handheld, and additions such as an HDMI port and faster mobile internet may make the system an even more attractive alternative to gaming on your phone.

PS4_Remote Play

Rumours have been in circulation that PS4 developers will have to include Vita remote play on every PS4 game by default. If this turns out to be true, Sony would do well to give us the full details at E3. Lord knows the Vita could do with that special something to help sell units, and being able to play all your PS4 games off the TV could be a real system seller for busy family households. It could also help Sony break into the second screen segment of the market currently being targeted by Nintendo with the Wii U.

New Vita Exclusives

Though PS4 integration sounds exciting, it’s highly unlikely that the Vita will be able to piggyback on the PS4’s success alone. It needs new games and it needs them bad. Of course, exciting ports like thatgamecompany’s Flower will be shown off at E3, but new exclusives will be the order of the day. Maybe the previously rumoured Bioshock Vita will make a return? What about awesome looking action RPG Dragon’s Crown? Who knows what’s in store for the Vita, but Sony will certainly be trying to announce something big to keep the handheld afloat.

Continued PS3 Support

Of course it’s a load of bollocks most of the time, but all hardware manufacturers at least try to pretend that there will be continued support for their older machines long after their successors are launched. Sony are likely to do the same at their conference, dedicating a small amount of time to upcoming PS3 releases such as Watch Dogs and GTA5. Though these games may well have next gen ports released simultaneously with their PS3 counterpart, Sony will remind us all that PS3 owners still have games to look forward to.
